Information for Veterans

The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth, Bureau of Workforce Transformation (BWT) State Approving Agency has accepted our request to be approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) as an institution receiving veterans' benefits on behalf of its students who qualify. The Department of Veterans Affairs has since confirmed this approval.

The PRTS code is 31063222. All three of our degree programs are approved for benefits effective as of August 12, 2009. Applicants are encouraged to apply through their USDVA regional office for benefits to support them in our programs. Our registrar, Mr. Henk Kleyn, is a VA certifying official.

On August 9, PRTS commemorates its 15th anniversary. The faculty and staff wish to humbly acknowledge the Lord's goodness for His faithfulness to us until this very moment. We stand amazed at His provisions in every area of the seminary operations. Please continue to pray for us that God would get great glory through our seminary and its alumni and that we and they would all remain faithful to His precious truths of sovereign grace. "Hitherto hath the LORD helped us" (1 Sam. 7:12).

Course with Reverend Daniel R. Hyde

Rev. Daniel R. Hyde will be teaching on "The Theology of the Patristic Creeds" (ST441a). This course will introduce the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian creeds with attention to the general purpose and structure of Christian creeds, and their place among other Christian symbols. Not only will it survey the historical context and development of these creeds and trace some of the historical exposition of certain phrases from the patristic period through the post-Reformation period but it will also seek to apply the creeds to contemporary apologetics.

Course Dates

The course will be held on August 23-25 with the class meeting Monday, 1:00pm-4:00pm, Tuesday, 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm, and Wednesday, 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm. Contact the seminary to enroll or send in the following enrollment form:

About the Instructor

Rev. Daniel R. Hyde is the pastor of the Oceanside United Reformed Church in Carlsbad/Oceanside, CA. He has an M.Div. from Westminster Seminary California and Th.M. from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He is also the author of eight books, including Welcome to a Reformed Church and In Defense of the Descent.

The Glory of God in Preaching

September 27-28, 2010

The highest aim in expository preaching is soli deo gloria--the glory of God alone. No pulpit can rise higher than its lofty view of God. As the proclamation of God goes, so goes the pulpit--and as the pulpit goes, so goes the church. Everything in ministry hinges on a towering view of God.  

In this conference, Drs. R. C. Sproul and Steven Lawson will focus upon the biblical preaching that is God-centered and God-exalting. Our goal is to ignite a renewed passion for God's glory in our exposition of Scripture. In each session, we will be challenging expositors to hold forth an elevated view of our sovereign God in preaching. When the absolute holiness of God is once again recovered in contemporary preaching, worship will be transcendent, Christ will be treasured, discipleship will be galvanized, and evangelism energized.

Graduation Address 2010

Winning and Keeping Souls from the World Conference

The Metropolitan Tabernacle is having their 35th annual School of Theology this year from July 6th-8th, 2010. Dr. Joel Beeke will be there to speak on the following topics:

The Puritan Teaching of Sanctification - How this was rooted in a deep realisation of God's being; how it embraced both status and condition, and was carried out through spiritual discipline.
Conscience and Counselling - How the Puritans maintained a biblical, tender conscience, resolved problems of conscience, and what may be learned today from Puritan counselling - such as counselling by theology rather than psychology.
Puritan Sacrificial Zeal - How zeal for God's cause coalesced with sacrifice and self-denial in Puritan thinking, to produce not only fruitful service but great happiness.
Walking as Active Pilgrims - How the Puritans shaped their active 'pilgrim' mentality by consciously pursuing a biblical, devoted-to-God, two-world, warfaring outlook.

"The sessions are designed to bring together inspirational and practical themes for Christian people reaching souls in an age of unprecedented moral and cultural change.

A cultural divide is certainly en trenched among evangelical churches today, many adopting charismatic, worldly-entertainment style music, while others stand firmly with traditional, reverent worship. And what is true of worship culture has extended to the everyday activities of individual Christians, those in contemporary churches tending to embrace much more worldly lifestyles and aspirations. There is a great need for clear definitions and explanations of the biblical doctrine of separation from the world as universally held and practised by Bible believers for centuries, until recent decades.

To be loyal to Truth is surely essential for the true blessing of the Holy Spirit in evangelism and church life.
